Made for the long haul – the OXLEY® BORA is your sail for long distances.

Made for the long haul – the OXLEY® BORA is your sail for long distance AND BLUE WATER sAILING.

Long-distance sailing is not just about nautical miles, but also about trust, endurance, and a sail that holds its course – from the first breeze to the final port IN ULTIMATE STABILITY.

30-40%

Larger wind ANGLE operating range

Larger wind angle operating range due to the gust-damping and lift-generating wing.

60-180%

Larger operating range on wind CONDITIONS

A wider operating range downwind and upwind is achieved thanks to a much flatter sail radius. In light winds, the wing acts as a soft batten, keeping the sail stable. In stronger winds, the wing profile generates maximum lift and reduces the load on the rig for improved course stability.

SAIL HANDLING

THE OXLEY® "BORA"

The wing profile and its position within the sail's opening make all the difference. The result is a robust and sophisticated structure that allows for a continuous airflow towards the wing, ensuring optimal lift and thus optimal gust damping. The sail is constructed from up to seven different materials to optimally distribute force and is capable of withstanding extreme loads. The sailcloth used weighs a mere 44 grams per square meter and is coated with a unique water-repellent agent and a UV stabilizer for added durability. This technology and material is representing the latest technology within the industry.

Sails for long distances

The special wing profile reduces the load on the rigging and the yacht in gusts. This is particularly beneficial for vessels that tend to be nervous in gusts. This makes the sail the ideal tool on board for long voyages, as it requires less attention and the autopilot can handle most of the work. The self-stabilizing OXLEY® sail, model BORA, is the perfect sail for long distances.
